Nominated for: Excellent editorial standards but particularly willingness to provide great assistance to young promising authors whose first language is not English
Short biography
Dr. Frank Ward is a water resource economist at the College of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences at New Mexico State University, USA. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from Colorado State University. His recent work has focused on promoting conservation and economically efficient use of water in irrigated agriculture. It also includes policy planning, program formulation for water resources, analysis of water resource systems, and institutional strengthening. More information.

Short biography:
Dr. Herve Andrieu, Laboratoire Central des Ponts et Chaussées (LCPC) and Research Institute on Urban Sciences and Technics (IRSTV) is senior scientist in the Water and Environment Department. He received an Engineering degree from Ecole Nationale des Travaux Publics (ENTPE) and a PhD degree in Environmental Science from Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées 'ENPC). More information.

Dr. Arkin is Director of the Cooperative Institute for Climate and Satellites (CICS) at the Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center (ESSIC) of the University of Maryland, where he also serves as Deputy Director and Senior Research Scientist. More information.

Short biography:
Dr. Susan S. Hubbard is a staff scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where she leads the Environmental Remediation and Water Resources Program and is an Associate Director of the Berkeley Water Center. She received her B.S in Geology from UC Santa Barbara; her M.S. in Geophysics from Virginia Tech; and her Ph.D. in Engineering from UC Berkeley in 1999. Her research focuses on advancing the use of geophysical methods for shallow subsurface characterization and monitoring, with a particular emphasis on development of data integration methods that have been used to guide and evaluate environmental remediation treatments. Short biography
Dr Adrian D. Werner is a Senior Lecturer in Hydrogeology at Flinders University, South Australia and has been an Associate Editor for the Journal of Hydrology since 2007. After completing a Civil Engineering Degree at Central Queensland University in 1992, he worked for the Queensland State Government until 2006 on water resources projects, specialising in surface and subsurface hydrology. He completed a Ph.D. at the University of Queensland in 2004 on the topic of coastal aquifer hydrodynamics. More information.
